Where would one go to start a career in bare-knuckle boxing, like Kimbo Slice? Do they start with a talent agent? I am in Michigan.

Thanks

  1. well you need to travel to the year 1895 first.

Kimbo slice is a joke as far as MMA is concerned.

  2. The cops let Kimbo do it since there were rules to the fight and it was consentual, but it has to be set up where the rules are there and you have a set time where the fight would stop.  As for selling out events not gonna happen, but you get it on you tube and set up a webpage then you get your money.  Everyone that has to run their mouth about Kimbo being a joke in the MMA world remember what the question was instead of trying to make someone say wow he's a hardcore fan.  You don't like it don't answer the question get your 2 points somewhere else.

  3. You need a digital camera and a computer with Internet access.  You also need another street fighter who is willing to fight against you.  Set up a fight, get it on the Internet (i.e. - Youtube), and take it from there.  That's how Kimbo did it.

  4. Well, first you have to learn boxing.  If you can't find a boxing trainer then you could try the Slam Man.

It's a human shaped electronic punching bag with targets that light up which tell you where to punch.

It's better than an ordinary punching bag as it can provide combinations for you and it's much better for motivation because it's more fun.  It basically acts as your very own boxing trainer.

I've got one of my own and it comes with gloves and an instructional DVD in the basics.  A human shaped target provides a more realistic training regime as well.

  5. you can't, Bare knuckle boxing is illegal

the only fights that can be a legitimate career are professional fights by state sports commissions

  6. It's tough to do what Kimbo did.  There are so many people out there trying to make a name on youtube it's not even funny any more.  He did it the stupid way, and got lucky.  It's like winning the lottery, bro.

The best thing to do if you want to fight is enter some contests and win.  There must be a million "MMA/Toughman" contests out there.  Sign your name and beat some ppl up!

Get someone to video your fights - use a tripod so it looks half decent.  Post your fights and pray for a miracle.

If you win enough fights you'll get sponsored eventually  and you'll get into bigger shows and invitational events.  (Jeremy Horn, Chris Leben, etc. came up that way.)

You really need to train at a good gym though.  There will come a time when you need to protect yourself from takedowns and defend against grapplers.  If not I'm thinking you'll be helpless.

But don't count on making a "career in bare-knuclke boxing".  No such thing.
