my aunt stumbled upon a treatment for a certain skin condition. she and her husband have gotten a lawyer and a patent. the patent was online so i'm not so sure it's the real deal. she wants to "make" the product at home and eventually get a manufacturer. she has no business experience but she and her husband are intelligent soo i think they can pull it off with the right guidance. it reminds me of the guy who came up with 'butt paste'--i would ask him but i don't know how. what is she forgetting? what should she do next?

  1. You start with the US Patent office (to make sure - these generally have to be researched to make sure that there should not be any conflicts) and then the FDA.

In order to move from there, she would likely have to convince a financial backer to help with legal, then production and marketing fees.

  2. and you use "butt paste" as your example, no wonder why hardly anyone bothered to answer this!

If she stumbled onto something, it most likely already exists, so the patent would not be much good. If she concocted it, there might be a different situation. The other answer is correct in that even if you are talking about something genuine, it is a long and costly progression in getting everything approved and into the market.
