How do you start a cruise industry?

Yes, I know that this is a crazy question, but in 7-12 years, I will be planning on owning a cruise industry, or buy out royal caribbean. Do you have any suggestion from going to Nordic Empress to Indepence of the Seas in less than 40 years? Any information would be nice. Also, I would only like REAL answers.

Thank-you

  1. It looks like the cruise industry is just about sewn up with the big hitters having to build ever larger ships, to get more bodies on board to maintain their profit margin as the competition for passengers is reducing prices for cruises across the board.

The information you got about RCCL a few days ago shows that you don't or can't just go and build a $400 million cruise liner without some heavy financial backing and the infrastructure and staff to support your cruise line.

Even the Song of Norway, with only a few years of useful cruising life left was for sale at $31 million dollars.

You could make a start by examining carefully all the cruise lines and try to find a niche in the market that has not been exploited yet.

Have alook at the link, it shows that even the big hitters are not finding it easy to expand into new areas.

    Good luck.

  2. dude! at least you don't set your goals too low, Think green! if you can figure out the fuel thing. manufacturing is the way to go, oil is going to murder the cruise industry and the environmentalist will be the ones that put the contract out, tread carefully
