How do you start a pigeon farm for squab meat production?

i'm looking for pigeon farmers and breed suppliers. i have no experience in this field and there are no such farms in my country, malaysia. i welcome emails from anybody with any knowledge on commercial pigeon farming from any part of the world. i would also appreciate any suggestions on which websites or books that i could refer to. thanks

As a licensed bird enthusiast and all around meat lover, (Not the g*y kind of meat) I am asked this question all the time. Now here is the deal, Tasha, you are going to need some s**y lady birds for the males to mate with. I mean really set the mood for them, nice romantic steak dinner over candlelight, some Barry White "Let's Get it On" playing in the background, and for the trashy birds, some dirty movies available for the VCR. That is all I know.

I'm not farming them, but I've meet people who are.

It is important to have good genetic stock.

For good size and livability.

Approx. 4 different breeds and their hybrids are utilized.

Mature pigeon and immature (squab) is highly prized by Asian people all over the world.

The French like as well.

Live market and dressed frozen.

There must be breeders in Malaysia,

just have to look harder.

In the U.S., many squab growers belong to a co-op, which sets a fair price, issues them a pay check on a regular basis, maintains a steady and growing market.

Some universities around the world have publications on them.

Private breeders as well.
