How do you start a preschool?

I am looking into starting a preschool. NOT A DAY CARE. If anyone has any information on how to do it, or owns their own preschool, please let me know. I am looking for information like, regulations, insurance policies, start up costs, and also a good rate to charge.

Depending on where you live there should be a location where you can contact and get a copy of the licensure requirements, these are the minimum that you need to do with a preschool.  Depending on what you already have the start up costs will vary, if you have a building or have to build a new one, etc.  As for a rate to charge this depends on where you live as well, the price varies in different areas, try to get your hands on the licensure requirements and also look into what other preschools cost in the area.

Yes - as leslie b said, your first step should be to contact the state to find out licensing requirements for where you live. Often they will have a licensing officer that can guide you through the many first steps, including that of seeing the space you plan to use and telling you if it can be licensed. They may even have booklets and other information for you.

Another important first step is to look into information on how to run a small business. Our city has a few organizations, including one just for women, on how to start and run your own business. They'll help you learn how to get loans, set up a budget, etc.

I think your first step would be to contact the state you are in to obtain a copy of the regulations that would apply in your area.  They may be able to direct you to insurance agencies and others you would need to contact.

get some babies, raise them, make a building and be sure you insulate it, then buy paint and blankets and put the babies and the paint and the blankets in the building together.
