  1. Practice alot...The more races you enter and the more exposure you can give sponsors the better...If you are trying to get local sponsor then race all the tracks in that state or region. Offer great brand placement on your bike and gear, and on your transportation. Check http://www.atomsfamily.net/ and goto the Link way at the bottom Team PDB, they've been racing for years as a team and maybe they could give you some ideas

  2. You start at the beginning getting a bike suitable to race for your age and size  and all the safety gear.  Then joining a local club to race.   Attend practice days before you race to get used to riding with other bikes and you don't worry about getting sponsors until you can prove that you have the ability to win or place in races consistently.  Sponsors want something back from you and you have to be able to provide that.  This also includes being able to present yourself well and make a half decent speech when on the podium.

So start at the beginning and join a club and the rest will follow if you have any ability.

  3. First you need to learn how to ride, then when you think you're good enough, go to your local race track after you've signed up to the American Motorcyclist Association through http://www.ama-cycle,org and become a member,

  4. Start by getting the right bike. Nothing worse than trying to ride motocross on a trail bike. Your local dealer should know about any local tracks in your area. Just ask them for any flyers, web sites or phone numbers for these tracks so you can find out when open practice is held (not all tracks do open practice). Get some riding gear and start going to open practice. When you feel comfortable on the track run a race to see how it goes. You have to be at a very high level to get sponsorships unless you are good friends with the owner of a bike shop. Generally all they give you is a discount. I have raced for the same team many years now and I basically just get bikes, parts and accessories at cost. I don't get paid or anything.
