  1. A degree in Horticulture is a great start.

The next step is to work in a nursery.  This can be a part time job, but you will learn loads of info about how the industry works.  You will gain an advantage that is priceless in today's nursery and wholesale grower trade.

  2. Yes dear WATERLILY, Go to college for every agricultural and horticultural class there is.

Then spend several years working for a reputable tree nursery so you can get practical hands on knowledge.

      WHY?

Because you will need to know Insects, Diseases, weather conditions, soil sciences, water quality, plus the blister and sore back factor,

Then you will need business courses so you don't go under in two seasons.

Please go to school, or if you cannot afford it. Then go to work for a tree nursery until you can afford to take classes while learning on the job before you sink money into a nursery of your own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES - go to college.  Get a degree in horticulture.  You don't say where you are located but I can recommend Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture in Doylestown, PA.

    They have a great program.

Then you need experience -- work for a commercial tree nursery.  Learn what they do and where they get their stock and how they take care of their stock.

Next, save your money.  You want to have at least one year's income in the bank (liquid assets) so that once you start your nursery, you have something to fall back on should you have problems with the nursery.

    Good Luck
