Ive never surfed before but are there like special shoes that help you stay on the board? Or do you go barefoot?

O.o

If you have pics, that'd be nice too.

  1. Yep you get a cake of surfboard wax and

rub, rub it onto the board in the area your

bare feet will be standing. You then rub rub

sand into the wax, making a pretty good

grip surface which seawater won't wash off

for awhile. Don't expect it to "look good"

lots of girls think its ooky, but you want to

surf, not look pretty. You start when the waves

are not too big. Use a leash so your board doesn't

drift away from you when you fall off. Everybody

falls off. It goes with the sport! Try your first waves

balanced on your knees gripping the front of

the board and getting the feel. Do that several

times and get your nerve up. Then try on your knees

sitting upright awhile. When you get the feel of how

the board acts when you shift your weight, keep

hold of the board with both hands and carefully

pull your toes up under you in a crouch. Don't

worry about how you look! Everyone has to learn.

Its great if you can find a buddy to help you...

even better if its a cute boy...surfers are always

glad to help girls, (heh heh). Main thing is DO NOT

make your first tries when its too big, (when waves

are too high and rough). Enjoy the water, and

feel the soft caress and rising and falling of the

waves. For lots of us surfing is a spiritual experience.

Get out there, and good luck!

Note: Just went to Ron Jon a couple weeks ago

and they didn't have Dr. Zogg's s*x Wax! OMG...

what now? Maybe earth will collide with Mars!

Oh about the name "s*x Wax". For a long time

surfers were funky guys, (some still are like me)

anyhow the wax is milky-clear and when you rub it on

it bears a resemblance to...ahem...well...you know!

Check out Ron Jon's web site they have DVDs

to learn to surf. Ron Jon Surf Shop is down here

in Cocoa, FL not far from where I live.

  2. use surf wax and DO NOT LOOK DOWN!!!

  3. s*x Wax and good balance. wax helps you bare feet stay on the board. Try it you'll love it.

EDIT: Just google s*x wax and it will have Mr. Zogs s*x Wax. It is sticky and waterproof holding your feet to the board. LOL.

  4. Lol, i use Ms palmers and her 5 daughters. Another good name for surf wax.

And u dont wear shoes, unless its really cold you wear booties which can help. But otherwise u need good balance and wax on the board.

  5. Yes, wax is what we use for traction, and one of the most popular brands is called "s*x wax'. You will also notice in pictures of short boards that many have a rubber-like traction pad glued to the aft portion of the deck (top).

Get off line and go learn how to swim, so you can be surfing by the end of summer! Go on, go for it!
