i have a african dwarf frog mixed with fish. i was wondering how would you make garden earthworms safe for the frog to eat. at the moment i am putting them in a jar and adding tonic salt and dechlorinator, is this fine ( when i add the earthworms to the treated water in the jar they seem to give off some yellowish liquid, why?)

thanks very much!

  1. Who told you that you need to sterilize the frogs food? You are TORTURING the worms. The salt is burning the worms.

  2. You dont need to sterilise the worms - worms do not carry any diseases. Adding tonic salt and chlorine to them will probably poison your frogs eventually. I dont know how big your frog is but www.wormsdirect.co.uk sell different sized worms suitable for live feeding.

  3. Are you trying to kill your adf? They are tiny and can only eat things as small as bloodworm's. You shouldn't be putting the worms in things like that anyway and the yellowish liquid that is coming away from the worms will be the same as when you put salt on a slug. Go buy some live food from the pet shop if you want to feed live but my adf eats fish flakes, dried bloodworm's and all sorts of broken pellet foods and i have had him for over a year now.
