For the past couple of weeks i've been jogging on my treadmill for 60 minutes when i wake up. I've been able to avoid chocolate but now that i'm on my period all i want to do is eat chocolate, its crazy and i unfortunately have (lots of quality streets). Yesterday i ended up throwing the tin away just because I couldn't stop myself !! along with mini kit kats...and when i'm jogging my legs feel heavy and my muscles start aching me almost immediately which didn't happen before. What should i do to keep my energy up so that i can exercise and what kind of foods can i eat that will satisfy me during my period...and does drinking water and milk really help?

  1. Stay away from chocolate and overcome your cravings through sheer force of will. I'm sorry to tell you but the only solution is increasing your self discipline

    good luck with your diet!

  2. I can tell you straight away that there is something missing in your diet. you are not getting enough calcium, protein, carbs. either one or all of them. first i suggest you have a protein shake. it will make a diff to your energy evels in 3-4 days. second, follow a better diet. third, My dietician swears by Glutamine powder for reducing cravings and also improving nutrient absorption.

    for a workable diet -

here is what my dietician suggests - follow a practical diet. start your meal with a soup or a huge salad. this fills u up. Make sure your plate has this ratio - 50 per cent veg, 25 per cent  carb. potatoes, corn and peas come in carbs category. 25  per cent protein.this will prevent cravings too.an occassional treat is OK. have a snack every three hours. fruit ,ideally berries, or soy nuts. just 2 tbsp of soya subsides hunger pangs. have a protein shake too, if you want. it will fight the fat and give you extra energy to exercise. switch from white rice and bread to brown. eat 900gms of veggies a day.Lose a kilo a week. that is  permanent loss.  pick an exercise regime you like.

get a pedometer and  try to take 10,000 steps everyday.

  3. I don't think the lack of chocolate would actually make you tired..

But your body is probably having a hormonal reaction (thus the craving)

I guess you have 2 options:

    1. Try and resist just for a little longer. No doubt your body will get over the cravings as the hormonal impulses should settle down.

What can help is this: Just think "I can only have a very little piece. Having that small amount is NOT WORTH IT. It isn't worth the weight i will put on."

    2. Have a tiny piece to satisfy your cravings so you can move on. However only do this if you are sure you can have the self control to ONLY eat a small amount.

  4. If you have a sugar craving eat fresh fruit instead and chew gum!
