How do you stimulate root growth with a sod lawn?

Most of the sod lawns I see have only surface roots. A seeded lawn typically has a longer "green" season into the winter (in Colorado) because the root system is more mature.

  1. nitrate soda -mix with water-follow instructions

  3. correct, the seeded lawns have better rooted system. sod is for those whom can not wait for the grass to grow from seed. seed your lawn, and then in a year or two, you will be sitting in it, enjoying, and watching those with sod, out there working on their lawn they could not wait for.  

  4. spread some black dirt top soil out with a little seed and lots of water for the first month
