How do you stop Zebra and Bengalese finches from mating?

Question

I have a pair of both and have read all the books etc, and it says to not let the birds mate continuously. How do you do this? Do you remove the nest? Do you remove the eggs each time? I don't really understand?

just take off the nest box or just keep hen bengalese with hen zebra finches (visa versa)
