How do you stop an EX-pacer from pacing?

well there it is, how do i stop my new standard bred from pacing?

  1. I would hire a trainer to work with him,but why not ride the pace.I rode a pace on a gaited horse,an Icelandic,and it was great fun. Good luck with your horse!!


  2. You didn't make it clear if this was a young or old pacer. What do you intend to do with this horse ? Not knowing the answers to these questions, a simple way to stop him from pacing is to use a heavier shoe in front and a light shoe behind. This will make him trot. If that is what you want him to do. If you intend to ride him , it would be alot more comfortable ride on the trot or cantor than on the pace. I hope this helps.

  3. your really not suppose to ride a pacer. Remember, this horse never had anybody on his back during his racing career. Harness drivers ride in a sulky behind these horses.
