This is a 1999 Whirlpool 18 cu ft Mod ET18PKX6WO 1 and within two weeks time, I have liquid on the shelfs and puddeling in the bottom. I can see no drain hole any where in the bottom. Prior to this, the freezer door was left slightly open and a layer of ice built up about 3/4 inch thick in the bottom. I cleared the ice and now I have this condensation problem. Is there a controlling device that is not functioning? Please help.

  1. Your fridge may not have completely defrosted do to the extra moisture that would have been drawn in when the door was left open.

A large amount of ice would have also formed on the evaporator coil and drain pan located behind the panels.

Remove all food and turn unit off and allow to defrost completely.

  2. The freezer section  has a drain line that goes to the bottom pan which dries up from the heat of the compressor.

You have a blockage within the drain line.  Remove the food, loosen the bottom of the freezer section and you should have access to the drain line.  Using a plastic tube  blow out the drain line to free the clog.  Possible at the rear of the refrig you may also have access to the drain live for cleaning.  Poor some warm water w/bleach mix to clean algea out.

  3. Make sure your seal is sealing up all the way around the door.
