How do you stop harrassing telemarketing calls?

It is the same number calling me constantly, in the morning, afternoons. I've told them to remove me from their database, they continue to call, now I can hear them breathing, but they won't say anything.

  1. Your sevice provider can block these but you still might get some cos I got BT privacy last year and I still get some calls.

  2. start your answering machine with the  3 tone sound you hear when you dial an incorrect number... the telemarketing autodialer will remove your number from the calling list.  Do a search for it on google.

    good luck

  3. get an air horn ya know the kind that uses compressesd air, when they call, letter rip!  Air horn $5.00....Hrs of entertainment value...Priceless!

  4. Are you sure it's telemarketing calls? If so, put your name on the do not call list: www.donotcall.gov.

But if you hear them breathing, I would be inclined to think it's a prank call.

  5. Put your phone number on the national do  not call list.  Here are a couple of sites.  www.donotcall.gov  and/or www.fcc.gov/cgb/donotcall.

  6. get a callerID manager!!

  7. just remember when you sign up on the national do not call ist it take 90 days to activate your equest, plus if you file a complain, the FCC does not prosecute every complaint, they compile them and when they have enuogh again 1 compny the do, if you are the only complaint on 1 company there is a small if any chance they will be fined

  8. Contact the FTC and have them fined.  Contact the police and get the company cited for harassment.  You can get your incoming call log from the phone company.  If it is on a cellphone, you already get this info each month with your bill.

So long as it's the same number, you will have a strong case when you sue them in small claims court for the cost of the incoming calls (if it's on your cell) and the mental anguish, anxiety, not to mention the pain and suffering you endured over this.

America is the most litigated society on earth.  Take advantage.

EDIT: Disregard Cellphone comments.  Just noticed this is the landline forum.  Found this Q on the main page. My bad.
