In an apartment, in the bedroom, how do you stop mice from crawling out of that? I'm not talking aobut setting up traps, or killing them once they're there, I'm talking about preventing them from coming into your apartment.

  1. An ultrasonic device will repel the mice for a few days, then they will return.

Go to a hardware store.  Ask to buy some hardware cloth.  Make sure the holes are small enough that you can't poke a pencil through.  Buy some snippers, too, if you don't have any.

Unscrew and remove the grate.  Cut a section of the cloth to fit inside.  Seal with glue, or tape.  (It doesn't have to look great, since it will be out of sight.

FYI, mouse droppings can carry Hantavirus and other airborne diseases.  If you rent, you can tell your landlord that the mice are a health hazard and he has a legal obligation to fix the problem.

  2. Need more information---What type of vent? Heating..Fresh air...dryer vent?

  3. well, i'm not sure what vent you are talking about exactly,  but if it's a hole that can be plugged, then steel wool is the most common thing, as they can't chew it.

if this is a necessary hole, like for heating or ventilation, then you may try a supersonic pest deterrant.  these are a small device that you plug in, and it emits a supersonic frequency which we can't hear, but is unbearable to small pests.

some of these CAN be heard a small amount, but others are completely silent.  so be careful which you buy.
