  1. I usually fall down!

  2. You are regular foot. if your right foot was forward you'd be goofy foot.

You need to learn you to side slip.  Basically, it is learning how to use you heal and toe edges.  You go down the hill at very mellow angles.  From right to left and right to left learning how to use those edges to turn and stop.

    Have fun!

  3. Simple way to put it whichever way you are facing lean towards the the mountain if you back is toward the mountain lean back and lean your heels back and vice versa for toes

  4. turn your board 90 degrees to the slope.

  5. A flat board pointing down the hill will increase speed.  An edged board (either toe-side edge or heel-side edge) going across the hill will slow speed.

Most people like to start on their heel-side edge so you can see where you are going, but be sure to practice on the toe-side some too.

Heel-side edge is when your heels are down and your toes are up and you are facing down the hill.  The more your toes are up, the slower you should go, but you still have to maintain your balance.

On your toe-side, your toes are down, heels are up, and your back is facing down the hill.  Make sure you check for people downhill from you before you start this way.  Most people find it easier to stand up from their knees than butt and would therefore be on the toe-side edge.

However, I'd still recommend that you take a lesson!

  6. go sideways
