How do you stop or get the white film from dishes that has been dishwasher washer. Why does it happen.?

  1. I agree with the first answer. It could be the minerals in your water and you may want to get a water softener.

    You could also consider trying JetDry. I had some spotting on my glassware and that did the trick for me. And it's a cheap solution to try out before investing in a softener.


  2. It's your water.  You have hared water and that is minerals like calcium and magnesium in the water.  

    The only real solution is to get a water softner.

    In the meantime, you can soak the glassware or plates in water with lots of white vinegar which will disolve the film.

  3. This can be a combination of hard water build up and detergent buildup.  Every couple of weeks or so, I fill the sink up with hot water and add some vinegar and soak the dishes for a while.  This usually clears up the white film.  Good luck.
