How do you stop previous searches from appearing a drop down box based on previous entries?

When you do a search, lets say you type "free concert tickets", then a day or so later, I want to type in "free auto repair" for example, there is a drop down box that shows all previous searches where the word "free" was used. How do I turn that off, so that no previous searches appear in any drop down box. I want it to go away altogher. I do not see how to shut that option off.

The issue here is privacy. If I let someone use my computer, say a guest, it is possible for them to enter a search word, and if it matches my searches, then all of my searches appear. That is inappropriate for sensitive searches. How is it turned off???

  1. You need to clear or disable Auto Complete. This saves all previous searches in your search bar. Here's how to fix the problem:

For Internet Explorer: Click on Tools. Then Internet Options. Click on Content and then Auto Complete. Then click on Clear Forms. This will erase your search history. If you don't want things showing up again in your search history then deselect the Auto Complete options at the top. Be sure to select apply or ok at the bottom.

  2. Open inet options in the control panel. Enter content and open auto complete. Disable web addresses. In general hit the clear history tab to stop them from appearing.
