  1. things to try:

    Tell yourself you'll work on [whatever it is you need to do] for just half an hour, and then you get to watch a TV show or something.  If you want to work longer, that's okay, too.

    Spend some time each day visualizing yourself doing the things you've been avoiding.  This will train your brain to think that you do stuff instead of avoiding it.

    Think about why you are procrastinating, then tackle that particular problem.  Like if a job is too big and you feel overwhelmed, write down small steps to doing it and do them one at a time.  If you don't want to work at your desk because it's messy, clean it up.  Etc.


  2. When your being lazy, Tell yourself " you got to do this or somthing bad will happen" or just come on you got to do this and get up and do it then and there.

  3. Well depends on who were talking about.While it is normal for people to procrastinate to some degree, it becomes a problem when it impedes normal functioning. Chronic procrastination may be a sign of an underlying psychological or physiological disorder.

    So if its to that point see a doctor.

    If its not that bad then you need to gain a little self dicipline and will power.

    Definitions of Will Power and Self Discipline?

    Will power is the ability to control unnecessary and harmful impulses. It is the ability to overcome laziness and procrastination. It is the ability to arrive to a decision and follow it with perseverance until its successful accomplishment. It is the inner power that overcomes the desire to indulge in unnecessary and useless habits, and the inner strength that overcomes inner emotional and mental resistance for taking action. It is one of the corner stones of success, both spiritual and material.

    Self-discipline is the companion of will power. It endows the stamina to persevere in whatever one does. It bestows the ability to withstand hardships and difficulties, whether physical, emotional or mental. It grants the ability to reject immediate satisfaction for something better.

    The human being is full of inner unconscious, or partly conscious, impulses. People sometimes say or do things they later regret saying or doing. On many occasions people do not think before they talk or act.

    By developing these two powers, one becomes conscious of the inner subconscious impulses, and gains the ability to reject them when they are not for his/her own good.

    Developing Will Power and Self Discipline

    An effective method for developing and improving these abilities is to perform certain actions or activities, which you would rather avoid doing due to laziness, procrastination, weakeness, shyness, etc. By doing something that you do not like doing or are too lazy to do, you overcome your subconscious resistance, train your mind to obey you, strengthen your inner powers and gain inner strength. Muscles get stronger by resisting the power of the barbells. Inner strength is attained by overcoming inner resistance.

    Remember, strengthening one of these abilities, automatically strengthens the other one

    I find the best thing to do is to make a list of what to do, and make the items as small and simple as possible.

    eg not 'Clean out garage' but 'Throw away old newspaper', 'Put tools back on pegboard', 'Clean up oil stain', 'Put up shelf' and so on.

    As you tick things off, you actually get a sense of accomplishment, and that helps you keep going!

  6. Bet somebody.. that's how I do it. lol. I bet my mom everyday that if I don't (let's say do my homework at 5 rather than at 8) then I would owe her $10. I need the money, so I gotta do my homework, lol.
