How do you stop you smoke detector from chirp ping every few minutes?

My smoke detector has been beeping since Friday. I changed the battery and that didn't help. Any ideas anyone? HELP! The chirp ping is driving me nuts

  1. Mine had dust bunnies- once i used my vac on it, it stopped chirping


  2. Have you replaced the batteries?

  3. Remove the batteries to shut it up for the time being until you find someone to repair it. Maybe something's gone haywire in there. >.<

  4. set light to it! bet it stops chirping!

  5. Turn it off and stop smoking. When you turn it back on and the noise persists there is something wrong with the device. Either take it for repair or buy a new one.

  6. Easy answers, if they work.... put another fresh battery in, maybe the other new one was dead, make sure you get this one in correctly, maybe the other one was backwards?  Good luck!

  9. how long have you had it? Every ten years you should replace them
