How do you stop your bread from absorbing smell?

I have noticed that my loaf of bread always smells/tastes like the air freshener that is above my kitchen sink. I have put the bread in the microwave in hopes that it would keep the smell out, that didnt work. I have even bought a rubbermaid bread holder and that didnt work. It is getting so bad that I am constantly throwing away new bread because it will make me sick to my stomach. I live a small apartment so I fear that this issue will continue with any smell that might be in the apartment. Any ideas?

Move the air freshener to the closet or keep the bread in the fridge.

Happy Cooker has the right idea----get rid of the problem---move the stupid air freshener.
