How do you stop your cat from peeing in the house?

My 10 year old cat has recently started trying to mark inside the house. I have been trying to keep up with cleaning it up. I also scold him and put him outside whenever I catch him doing it. Are there any methods or products for getting him to stop. Getting rid of him is not an option!

  1. A paintball in the butt should cure that problem.

  2. i would keep a catbox indoors maybe he cant hold it till you see him a the door waiting to go outside. he also just might want the option of always having a bathroom available, i know i do.

  3. Put mothballs in the areas thahh he pees the most..

We used to have cats thah did their business in the plants.

We buried a few mothballs in the soil and they never went in the house again.

  4. Well you have to train it to be a house cat or might just have issues or its probaly just trying to mark its territory with its scent like peeing or even worse pooping in the house u should train it b-fore it starts to p**p in side the house and if u have a back yard let it go outside on regualar basis and make sure you have NO escapes in there and when its inside get it to pee or p**p in a kitty litter box and if its still peeing in the house be stern with it train it to pee or p**p inside the litter box make sure you train it well or it'll miss the liter box (TRAIN IT INTO A NORMAL HOUSE CAT)

  5. is your cat nuetered? maybe he needs to be nuetered. thats my best answer but idk, cause some older cats do that. i think there is stuff you can buy that you can spray all over so that he wont want to pee there.

what you should do is call the local vet and just ask them if they know. because they will, i always call my vet when i need an answer, they are always more than happy to help there.

  6. If you're around alot of the time, get a squirt gun and fill it with water.

When he's doin his thing, squirt him GOOD with the gun, then scold him and put him outside (provided you catch him).

  7. if he isn't neutered, that may be why.... my cat (who is about 2) peed in the house until i got him neutered... now he is fine... as for peeing, i know they have products for it... go to the local pet store and ask the clerk what works best... most of them will be honest with you... i hope this helps :)

  8.    Did you change anything in your house?  Anything from letting a New smell (other cat or dog) come inside your house?  If you introduced a new animal or scent of any kind in your house, your cat might not like it and be acting out by Re-Claiming its domain.  Most common is IF you brought in something new into your house that was owned by another cat owner.

  9. Yes, insert foot into his a**s.  That's how mine stopped.

  10. No there is a reason that the cat is misbehaving. If this is something that you do not consider normal for the cat it is a psychological thing that needs medical attention. Take the cat to the vet.

  11. it might be that hes getting older

my old cat started peing in the house

  12. Usually if an cat is peeing in a house and does not usually do this it is a sign that it is sick. It could be a urinary tract infections, cats are prone to them, or it could be some other illness. Take the cat to the vet, this is not normal. Scolding him for being sick won't help, he can''t talk so this is the way he is telling you something is wrong!

  13. get a shed put it up and put him inside then look after it as normal it will get him outside the hous lolz

  14. everytime he does, spray him with water

  15. We had the same problem. It took some time but we did it. We would find the place where he would pee a lot of the times and place newspaper down over it with just a little cat nip ot treat the cat likes. After the cat would start peeing over there after time we would slowly start moving the newspaper over to the door (little bit by little bit though). And one day we put the paper on our porch with the porch door wide open and a lot more cat nip than usual to lure her over there. She peed there 4 times that whole day. After that, we started taking away the newspaper and just leaving the cat nip  and before we knew it, the cat started always peeing outside.

  16. Leash him to a tree outside.

  17. keep him outside.

  18. Get a new cat!!

  19. Have you tried a litter box?  Or the Kitty pads..?

Everytime you catch your cat peeing pick em up and put them on the pad...

Most animals tend to pee in the same place... and it should get used to it....

    Good luck

  20. scold him for peeing when he does. get kitty pads. they are these things you put down that have a scent that attract the cat to them to teach them to pee.

  21. hold his nose in the areas that he's been peeing and use a newspaper and give him a couple of lashes on his butt.  He'll get the message.

N.B.  Don't hit him with all your force though.  He may end up sueing you.

That's what we do back home and it works 99% of the time.

  22. oh boy! i hate this part! ive had a lot of cats and the only way to stop them is to clean up the areas they peed on with bleach and stick them in the bastroom with a litter box (FOOD AND WATER! DUH!) for a week or so, they will get the idea

  23. keep him outside

  24. Spray him with water from a little spray bottle when you catch him marking inside.  Throw his butt out permanently if that doesn't work.

  25. rip its good for nothing bladder out!!!!!

  26. Usually that means there is something wrong with the cat, such a a UTI or bladder infection. I'd make an appointment with your veterinarian.

  27. get a cat trainer

  28. 1 obvious thing to consider is whether or not you're keeping the litter box clean. Cats sometimes choose not to use them if they're dirty.

#2 your cat may not like the current litter solution even if he/she has been using the same for years. This happened to my moms cat and the cats weight was part of the factor.

  29. TOSS IT IN A BLENDER

  30. Yes, go to the pet store and you will see different products that you can use.  There's a spray that you can spray on your furniture and carpet in areas he tends to mark to deter him from peeing there.
