How do you stop your horse dying on Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion?

Question

My horse loses life when I fall off a big cliff or being attacked by wolf's on the roads.

Is there a way I can restore my horse's health somehow.

Like grayfeathered said the best thing to do is get about half-way through the Dark Brotherhood quests and you will get a free horse named Shadowmere. This horse is invincible and will help you fight too if there are enemies nearby. I never bought a horse cause I got Shadowmere so I don't know if any other horses do this, but Shadowmere will also be automatically stabled outside a city if you fast travel there.

I have no idea if you can heal your horses, but try a heal other spell, like you would do on a human. But the best thing to do is just get the free invincible horse and not buy another one if the one you have now dies.

Beat Dark Brotherhood missions and you'll get invicible cool-lookin' horse as a reward.

You can use healing spells on your horse.

You can use a heal other spell on it and/or complete the dark brother hood to receive the horse shadomere which cannot die when all its healths lost it just becomes unconscious
