How do you store potted strawberry plants over the winter in Ontario?

I have purchased a pot of strawberry plants which I plan on keeping in the pot for this year's season at least, but would like to be able to enjoy them again next year.

I am really not sure but, if you get no answer from anyone try putting the pot in the basement.  I don't know if you should water when it is down there.  I live in the Buffalo, New York area and I have tried this with many plants and it has worked for me to bring it outside in the spring.
