  1. The power generated by the wind turbines is stored in batteries. They can store solar energy as well. Any home/business running on this power can operate totally off of the power grid. As soon as the power starts going to the electric company you may be able to charge them for the power but you would also be responsible for declaring the income that this generates.

    Most wind turbine users stay connected to the grid, and sell the extra power back to the power company.

    you pay 10 cents per kiolowatt/hour when you buy electricity, but when you sell electricity to the power company, they only pay you 4 cents per kilowatt/hour.
