  1. Volunteer some time in your child&#039;s classroom so you will understand what they are working on at school.  Talk with the teacher and find out what her goals are for your child.  If you disagree with her, tell her.  If you agree, ask for suggested activities to do at home to extend what is done in the classroom.  LISTEN to your child.  Ask questions and make comments that show your child that you are interested in what he/she has to say.  Spend a little one on one time: go for a walk, read stories together, visit a children&#039;s museum and talk about what you see there.  Any time that you spend actively communicating with your child is constructive and supportive.


  2. Have you thought of buying an NVQ book? They have them online or in most stores! They answer a lot of these questions for you and offer you places to look at for support or evidence! They&#039;re not that expensive and found mine REALLY useful. I even refer to it now sometimes!
