  1. just jump in and go. usually when i swim in really cold water it usually gives me a jolt and makes my muscles feel like their amazzing. warm water makes me feel like im swimming in jello.

  2. Just keep moving. Do not panic. Is this fully clothed for lifesaving class, an Army or Navy thing?

Do not spend worry time thinking about breathing or saving energy. It is almost too late now, being after 6 p.m. EDT, but a pasta meal would have been good at lunch or before 7:30 tonight.

Good luck. Do you know how cold of water, where will the test be located?

  3. Acclimatize yourself first.  Get wet and a little cold, it will stifle the reflexes caused by the cold water. Keep your head, keep moving, no big deal unless the water is very cold in which case you need to guard against hypothermia.

  4. Pasta helps a lot if you eat it for dinner the night before!  Don't think about the temperature of the water.

Hope this helps and Good luck!

  5. For lifeguard tryouts in the winter when the water is in the mid 50s F people put Vaseline on there armpits.

  6. I hope your muscles don't freeze, Good Luck!!!!
