I am going to St. Thomas in January, we will be staying at the Marriott Frenchman's Reef. We would like to spend a day in St. John. How do you get to the ferry from the Marriott? How long do you have before the ferry has to go back? Where does it drop you off in St. John? How much does it cost? Thanks!

You can get the ferry from Charlotte Amalie (downtown) takes about 45 minutes

    From Charlotte Amalie:

Rates: One-way, $11.10/Adults and $4.10/Children ages 2-11. Seniors are $6.10 (VI Residents only, 62 years and up, proof of age must be shown). There is a charge of $2/piece for luggage/boxes.

    Time: 40 to 45 minutes

Or you can take the Red Hook ferry- about 20 minutes

    /From Red Hook:

Rates: One-way, $6.10/Adults and $2.10/Children ages 2-11. Seniors are $2.35 (VI Residents only, 62 years and up, proof of age must be shown). There is a charge of $2/piece for luggage/boxes.

    Time: 15 to 20 minutes

You get off the ferry in Cruz Bay, St John. Taxis are waiting to take you to all the North Shore beaches.

Before going back to St Thomas, be sure to stop by the Beach Bar and have a Bushwacker or Painkiller.

    Enjoy)

  2. I cannot remember the specifics of cost, but I know that it leaves from Red Hook.  I lookeds it up quickly and got this link: http://www.vinow.com/general_usvi/interi...

I have encountered no problems when I previously took this ferry.  Enjoy your trip.

  3. the ferry runs between Redhook & Cruz Bay about every 30 mins from early morning to about 11:00pm.  Its was 3.00 per person, but I think its 4 or 5 bucks now.  It will drop you off in a shopping district in Cruz Bay, from there you can rent a car or scooter, or just look around.
