How do you take a picture of a miniature so it looks big?

Think sci-fi movie. They didn't really build a Death Star (well, that's what the government wants us to think). They made a model and used some technique to make it look life-size. I want the same result with a digital picture.

Part of it is taking a clear macro shot.

The other part is fooling us into thinking it is bigger than it really is.

You need to do that by adding some other miniature elements that we KNOW to be big, so that we think of your subject in relation to the other miniatures.

For example some tiny pebbles and a small doll (blurred, in the distance) which we automatically translate to the size of a person and big rocks. Or a tiny toy car/building/plane etc - you just need to make sure that they aren't as clear to make them more difficult to identify as toys. Do that either by blurring them via shallow depth of field, or by careful lighting.
