How do you take an iron on off?

I bought a t-shirt at a rummage sale but did not notice the previous owner's name was still emblazed upon the back via an iron on. Is there anyway I could remove this without damaging the shirt?

My suggestion would be to just get your name legally changed to the name on the t-shirt.

With an iron. Heat it up and it will come off.

If you heat it up with an iron you should be able to peel it off but it may leave a residue which will be very hard to remove. They're not meant to come off. Maybe you'll have to put something else over it.
