How do you take apart the rear leaf springs?

  1. do you mean apart off the car or apart from EACH OTHER ? If off the car, the procedure varies. If you want to separate the springs themselves, sometimes there are rivets holding them together, other designs use small bolts, or sliding brackets. Some are not designed to come apart, just be replaced as a whole unit. Depends on your make, model, and year vehicle. Good luck!

  2. Just remember if they have any load on them they are going to jump when you drive that bolt out.

  3.   Matt, first, jack the car up and put a stand under each rear wheel.... (axle) then, put a support under the center of the first spring, now, loosen the bolts at each end of the spring spray with bolt buster if you need to. carefully loosen the bolts and set them aside in some oil or discard and buy new ones.(recommend new), remove the springs and then take the springs apart and replace the bad ones. or install a new set and the process for assembly is the reverse of removal.
