I just got a car and I have no idea on how to take care of it. Is there any books or anything out there that teaches you how to maintain your car? I didn't even know how to pump the gas until I asked the guy at full service how to do it. lol..yeah I know...

  1. talk to it on a nice low tone of voice ...ease on the pedals as you progress ..listen to what motor says or manifests ..you'll know when theres something wrong than tell you're car you'll take her to a mechanic soon as she gets sick ...or starts sputtering

  2. change the oil every 3000 to 5000 miles. look at an auto parts store for a repair manuel that covers your vehicle. and last but not least make friends with someone who knows cars.

  3. well look you have to make sure all your fluids check your oil. make sure you have power steering and make sure you have all your fluids topped off lol.

  4. go to autozone.com and see if they have your online repair manual

  5. treat it like you would treat yourself ,when you get out of bed you do not run do you ,so when you start your car first thing dont set off fast until it has got warm, check oil, water ,tyres every week ,and wash it as well

    good luck h

  6. the very best way i can tell you,is set down and read the owners manual all the way through from beginning till end,and by the time your done you,ll know more than most people know about cars and how to take care of one, good luck.

  7. read your manuel in the car matinence section. It should tell you when to change your oil and how and when to wash your car.

For my car (which is a brand new 2008 Toyota Matrix), i change the engine oil and oil filter every 4000 miles. Wash and wax the car every month, vacuum the inside every month (depending on how dirty it is), and wipe down the dash and instruments with ArmorAll UV protection wipes.

ALSO, if your car is a new car, there should be a "break-in" period in when you should not drive over 60 MPH within the first 1000-2000 miles. It varies with different cars and you should defintiely check your owner's manuel. Hope i helped!
