I have a pot of gorgeous coleus on my porch and would like to start a small pot to bring in this winter. Where do you cut to start the plant? Do you have to place the cutting in water to root?

  1. Take a cutting from the growing end of the plant- about 5".  Strip the bottom 3" of it's leaves and remove flowers if there are any.  Place the cuttings in water and you will see roots form quickly.  I actually leave my coleus cuttings in water all winter and pot them up in the spring.  This method has worked for me for many years.

  2. I did, you just cut them and put them in water.

Once they develop roots you can pot them in up.

They have really improved the variety of colors over the years.
