  1. Like photoace said, you need a camera that can do a long enough exposure time for you to make your "painting."  How much time do you need?  My Fujifilm Finepix F10 goes up to 15 second long.  I've done something like that use a chemlight (glow stick).  If you are doing serious art you might need more time though.  Look for a camera that does a 60 second exposure.


  2. To do that, you need a camera that is adjustable .. not fully automatic like yours and most other P&S cameras.

    Using the timed 30 second or using "B" bulb setting on a DSLR is what is most effective when shooting images like those you want to shoot.

    Fireworks or twilight mode may work, but you will have to experiment.
