  1. The slide switch is the only feature that causes the memory card to go into write protect mode.

    1. Make sure when re-installing the memory chip that you insert it in straight. interference with the walls of the slot may be resetting the switch to write protect.

    2. If this doesn't work then load the memory chip into a chip reader and open it with your computer and a "removable drive" indication will show up in "My Computer".  Open the chip by going to "My computer" then double click on the removable drive "D: E: or F:"  whichever it is.

    3. Try moving a file into the chip from your C: Drive into the removable drive. If you can do this then the chip is NOT memory protected.

    4. If you are able to write a file to the chip then click on the folder for your camera files. Right click and choose properties. Check to see it that particular folder is not marked "read only" in the "attributes" section. If it is then click the box that says "archive" in its place or remove the check from the "read only" box.

    5. If where your camera writes the pics are in a folder within a folder, you may have to repeat this process with each sub folder.

Basically, the chip can be write protected, the file folder can be write protected, and the specific file itself can be write protected. If it is not the switch on the side of the chip then you have to go through the chip and remove the write protects off of the files and folders. If this isn't  the case then the switch on the chip is faulty.... time to buy a new chip :)

  2. As you look at the top of the memory card, on the left side there is a little switch toward the end that goes into the camera first.   That switch should be forward or toward the end that goes in the camera first to unlock or take off write protection.

Remove the batteries for at least one minute and allow the camera to reset or restore to the original settings.

Clean the camera and battery contacts as described in the link below and make sure your batteries are charged. Digital Cameras require lots of power. If the contacts are not really good it can cause lots of problems even if the batteries have a full charge.
