How do you talk to your dad?

Okay, so there is something I'm wanting to buy for when I go to college and I have to ask my father if I can buy it before I can get it. I also have to show him all the details about it. I think he thinks the field I'm going into (graphic design) is stupid. He's always been a quiet person and doesn't say a lot whenever I do get chances to talk to him. I just always get so nervous about asking him. What should I say or do to overcome my fear?

Why would you be afraid to talk to your dad? He is the one person in the world that you should be able to go to with anything. Don't be afraid of him and get nervous he is only human. Maybe you could ease into it. Sit with him and talk a little at a time and them build on it. Being your father I am sure he has a lot more to offer you than just financial help when you need it. He just wants to be assured that you are making good decisions in life.
