I have a very bright homeschooled daughter. She has asked me to teach her spanish. She has learned from Dora all she can and we look things up in a translation dictionary too. I have taught her all I remember from my high school class(thanks Mrs. Delgado). Are there any curriculums or vidoes geared for preschoolers, Kindergarteners or 1st graders that might help us out?

Thanks

  1. ya theres one called Muzzy... u can prob order it online...

  2. You could use flash cards and like certain trivia games that could possibly go on the TV. They probably have Dora the Explorer learn spanish item out there. You just gotta look for it

  3. bilingual picture books. "This house is mad of Mud" etc.

  4. get a spanish/english picture book and explain to her that red is rojo stuff like that......you can also get her a VSmile system which has Dora games that teaches kids her age spanish their are so many things even vidoes

  5. hmmm 3 year old! try talking to her in spanish! show her more dora videos! there's a show called diago something. i dont remember the name too well but he's dora's cousinn.

  6. What you are doing is great! Keep looking things up in the translation dictionary, when she wants to know what something is in Spanish. I went to a teacher supply store and picked up some Spanish exercise books, when I was teaching my Pre-K students. I labeled furniture in the classroom with both Spanish and English words.

I made my curriculum into a travel curriculum as well and we "visited" Spanish speaking countries. So, we could review transportation concepts while learning Spanish. We made "passports" and each time we went to a different country the child would get a stamp in her passport.

Barnes and Noble bookstore has a great children's section where I found Dora books, an awesome CD that had traditional Spanish songs from a variety of different Spanish speaking countries. Unfortunatley, I cannot remember the name of it. It came with a book of the songs in Spanish and English.

For art, we would make the flags of the countries to take with us on the "trips". We also made a suitcase out of a shoe box and "packed" useful items to take with us. We also made maracas and other Spanish musical instruements.

The list goes on and on... for this particular curriculum! Have fun and good luck teaching your intelligent daughter. : )
