How do you teach an adult to savor their food? I recently went to Europe, and I brought back some special chocolates that you cannot find in the states. My boyfriend got into my stash and is eating my expensive chocolates as if they were M&M's. I'm in a bad mood now..... grr.....

  1. EH!!!  No-no-no...you gotta HIDE those, honey!!  Only let him know where that kind of happiness is if he's done something good, like clean the bathroom without your asking or he ran the dishwasher all by himself!

As for teaching an adult to savor anything, here's the key: take the first bite and act very interested.  Savor it yourself first, tell them what they are about to taste, and offer them a bite.  The first time I tried a dark-chocolate caramel with sea salt, I didn't just say to my husband, "Mmm...this is good.  Want one?"  I said, "Oh wow...that was interesting.  The salt makes the taste of the chocolate and caramel just...POP!  Here, you gotta try this one..."

There.  Now go find a good hiding spot for what remains of your pricey candies!

  2. His idea of savoring a food and your idea are obviously two different things.  Can't they be ordered over the Internet.  Suggest that he purchase you some more chocolates.

  3. I doubt if he has the decency to understand the difference.  Not much hope there.  Sorry.

  4. he prolly doesn't know they r expensive. next time you catch him munching on your chocolates, sort of laugh and joke, "hey! those were expensive!" and laff, maybe he'll lay off of them a bit :]

  5. I finally found somebody who thinks that's annoying too!!!  It really gets on my nerves, so when you find out, please let me know!!!! so that I can teach my husband too.  Grr.....
