I have an idea about how to teach the forehand, serve, and volleys, but I don't know how to explain the 2 handed backhand. I'm going to be teaching a girl I have a huge crush on and I want to do this right. She's never played tennis before so I have a clean slate to work with.

  1. Teach her all the basics first & when it's time for a backhand lesson, be sure to demonstrate the proper 2 handed hold & grip on the racket.

Make her feel the differences of a 1 & a 2 handed backhand,

that way, she will decide which will be better for her.

Be sure to smell good during the entire lesson tips so she will enjoy all the moments.

Good luck bro & concentrate on her beauty as well.

  2. try this... teach her the forehand after she does that have her hit some forehands from her backhand side, this will teach her to swing through the ball (the most common mistake i see in 2 handers is too short a swing)  once she gets the motion down ( 5 or 6 good swings) have her right hand below the left and make some more swings.

I'm assuming you already can show her grip and body postion, etc.

  3. If you want to teach somebody in tennis you must be sure what you do. You must to have developed method for that. Classic is in the books - try to read something before start. In this case you take a big responsibility and success must be reached. Your students will remember you for all life if they will play tennis in other case they will never play tennis.

  4. First you should show her the swing and explain how to do it(Close the face a little, bend at your knees, the movement should be from her thigh to her back, follow through is important.)

But after that you just have to hit her balls and let her practice over and over, its the only way to get better/learn.

  5. Use your own racket and show her the movement over and over again. This is how I learned. Sometimes Coach would stand behind me and guide my racket up and over in the correct motion.

  6. Best bet is to get a coach.
