Chances are if you tell him he's going to tell his friends,then they'll tell someone and so on.

Honestly, somebody will always find out. But the easiest way to do it is in private. Invite him over for dinner, go for a walk, and just talk. I say somebody will always find out because I'm sure he'll tell one or more of his guy friends (the way we tell our girl friends) and who knows who the friends will tell.

But I say just talk to him. Guys are a lot less scary than you think.

Really there is no way to tell him without someone find out. Most guys would tell their mates so I don't think it's possible. But there are things you could do like dropping hints, flirting, or asking for his number that can give you an indication of if he likes you back and since they don't necessarily mean you like him, people are less likely to talk about it.
