But personally I've found with cancer men I have dated, when I'm more "just friends" like they let their feelings be known and push for you.

Just tell him. Us Cancers aren't in to the coy games like some people are. Don't be too pushy. Say something like, "I know we've been friends for a while, but I just wanted you to know that I like you." Then wait for a response.

I had this problem sometime ago.  Just make sure he feels the same way, cause you telling him straight up might scare him.  Take your time. I subtly let him know by giving him glances, smiling, good conversations, I made him cookies, gave him food every now and then and made him a special poem for his birthday (not of the i love you variety) more of a funny and creative one.  He loved it.  This may sound weird, but I happen to be a Scorpio and when he would look me in the eye sometimes, I would say in my mind 'hey, i like you a lot. i think i'm in love with you' and I get the same back from him...all through eye contact. It's really creepy how he can read my mind.  It's unexplainable.  I've read this a lot among the water signs. Cancers tend to be intuitive like that.
