  1. i've had this problem before also. what i did was....you gotta be willing to spend some money or give them a bottle of your perfume.....that's what i did..but you could also suggest it....but i found giving them a bottle works better cause its guaranteed to work..but you should approach them with the perfume and say hey i think you might like this...i always get complements when i wear this...guys go crazy for it.....and I'm hoping his is a girl.....but it could work with men too.

  2. "Nice perfume, but did you have to marinate in it?"

  3. The appropriate response is to tell them you think it's really nice that they like the perfume, but that it irritates your allergies, and to please not apply it in the common areas of the office.  Otherwise, it's your duty to avoid them and perhaps use the telephone to communicate instead of face to face.  Or, why not consider an outside meeting?  Just thoughts.

    Best wishes.

  4. dont just say it straight to them

but maybe if its you, and a couple others

just casually be like, someones wearing a bit too much purfume today...

    and start sniffing around.

    theyll get the hint.

  5. Your perfume reeks!  Please, have pity on us.

  6. hah cute

well maybe you should give her/him

    a perfume you think smells

    nice

and they'll wear it instead of that stinky one

or just tell them flat out

"umm you may have to consider buying a new perfume"

or just deal with it =/

but i really think you should just buy him/her

    a new perfume

and just give it to them as a gift

and just to be nice they'll wear it

    to work =D

  7. casually tell the person that you are sorry if it insults him/her but the perfume bothers you a little bit.  maybe even lie a little and say you may be allergic to the smell or something.

  8. start sneezing and pretend you are allergic to it.

  9. Wow, that's a hard one.  I would always ask which one they were wearing, and say "yeah, I thought so, the good stuff always makes my head hurt", or something like that.

  10. I would leave a little note on their desk or in their mailbox, where they sit.  I would say in the note that the perfume you wear bothers some of your coworkers, please refrain from wearing it to work, thanks. Or, you could tell your boss and maybe he/she could send out a memo/email to ask staff not to wear perfume/cologne to work as he/she has had some complaints regarding the the issue. :) I hope this helps a little!

    Good Luck

  11. You don't. They wear it because they like it not because you like it.

  12. Go to human resources and tell them that your sensitivity to your coworker's perfume is affecting your work. Request to be moved, and if that is not possible ask that they convert the office to a scent free environment as a reasonable accommodation for you. If you have asthma, headaches or allergies, be certain to mention these things.

It will be far easier for HR to talk to the offending human perfumerie about modifying her behavior than it is for them to move you to a new location. If this does not work, you will need to find a gentle way to tell her that her choice of perfume is a problem for you. Ask her if she has a second favorite and if she would be willing to substitute.
