  1. a steel drill bit will have hss(high speed steel)printed on it


  2. the drills r the same unless commerical made........i think ur asking about the bits?  if so wood comes in a flat paddle style and round with a point most of the time.....steel is hardened and just round....

    Someone who is experienced with using drill bits can tell you instantly which is for metal vs wood.

  4. the drills are generally the same, it's the bits that you need to worry about. it states plainly on the package what the bit is intended for.
