  1. Ask your supervisor!  I think if  the mark shows it's bogus.  Don't go through life wondering about things like this.  ASK!  It doesn't show that you are stupid, it shows that you care.

  2. The counterfeit detector pen is extremely simple. It contains an iodine solution that reacts with the starch in wood-based paper to create a black stain. When the solution is applied to the fiber-based paper used in real bills, no discoloration occurs. The pen does nothing but detect bills printed on normal copier paper instead of the fine papers used by the U.S. Treasury.

  3. Real bills have little fibers in them that are different colors for one. This is because they are made of cloth. Secondly if you feel a real bill and then a fake you can tell a difference. THirdly hold it to the light and look for the presidents face and a strip that says the bills value. If it does not possess these qualities it is a fake.

  4. Actually, all U.S. currency is essentially counterfeit. It hasn't been backed by gold, silver, or anything else of real value since 1964. It's just fancy paper which is worth something simply because the government says so. Basically, if a bill looks real enough and everybody thinks it's real, then for all practical purposes, it is real.

  5. Black if counterfeit.

And clear or very very light yellow if legit.

  6. another color

  7. Most of the markers are useless.  You SHOULD learn to recognize a REAL bill when you see one.  You will then know a counterfeit because it is different than the real thing.  This is how US Treasury agents are trained.  They handle MILLIONS of genuine bills and just 'know' when the see a fake.

  8. With the new bills it is very hard to counterfeit ,an easy way to tell if the older bills are real is to hold them up to the light they have a strip that says the denomination, along with rubbing them one white paper will rub ink off on the real notes, also if you look closely you can see little pieces of silver and red flecks in the real notes. Most counterfeiters are not able to get the paper nor can they add these strips and if they use a copier machine the ink won't rub off. Good luck, I've never had one passed on me.
