My rabbit has chunks of fur falling off and I think it might be from mites buI don't see anything on its fur or anything in its ears so I'm not sure.

My rabbit is acting normal and is clean but its fur is just falling off.

  1. take it to a vet

  2. Sometimes when they have mites their ears are crusty looking (inside the ear) or something like that. But you should visit the vet.

  3. your rabbit might actually be molting.  its a period every three months where a rabbit sheds off almost all of its fur in big chunks.  it should seem like a never ending battle but their should still be lots of fur on them.  if their are chunks of fur coming off and your rabbit is going bald then you should take it to a vet.  and it is hard to see mites but if they are in the ears it should look kinda dirty and black and you may be able to see them if you look really close.  even so you would have to take it to a vet.  so good luck but i think your rabbit is most likely just molting.

oh and its important to brush them during this time because when they clean themselves they get a lot of hair in their mouth which can cause a furball.  this can kill them since they cant throw it up so be careful!

  4. Well if so bad that its going bald and its red a puffy in those spots then its most likely mites. my bunny had them and all i had to do was use cat flea powder and they were gone even though most people say it doesnt work pshh it works. good luck.

  5. Take him to a good vet:

  6. do u let him outside maybe he does

  7. Your rabbit is probably just shedding. I've had them for years and they do that a lot. Or it might be pulling it's fur out, [female] rabbits do that after a while to build a nest for their bunnies even if they're not having any or if there's even a boy rabbit nearby.

Just to be safe, you should bring your rabbit to the vet.

  8. Is he old? Their fur usually molts when they are old, or perhaps the weather is getting warmer? These things could contribute, if your rabbit has mites you should be able to see the by parting the fur and searching over the skin. Spray your rabbit with Eucalyptus oil every day, not only do they enjoy the scent but it will warn off any parasites.
