  1. you can tell your toe is broken by the bruise and you wont be able to move it and it hurts... all the Dr will do is put that BIG funny shoe on and tell u to ice it and a few pain pills

  2. It hurts a lot or its bent in a way that doesn't seem right.

  3. break or just strain the treatment is the same, tape the small toe to the one next to it to stabilize it.

  4. Look for a hangnail.  Do you see a hangnail?

  5. a doctor cant do anything if it is broken, so just ice it, and stay off your feet for a day

  6. It goes wonky?? :s i dnoo haha x

  7. The main sympton is pain. There is usually discoloration-bluish color and disconfort when walking. It's impossible to tell if it's broken or not without an x-ray. In any case, if it's broken all we do is tape it to the next toe for 4-6 weeks. No need for casting.

  8. if you cant move it like normal it may be.  u probably just jammed it and now its sore.  or u could of given yourself a bone bruise but those arent a big deal and will go away in a day or two.

  9. After the injury, pain, swelling, or stiffness will occur. Bruising of the skin around the toe may also be noticeable. The toe may not look normal, and it may even look bent or deformed if the broken bone is out of place. It may be difficult to walk due to pain, and shoes may be painful to wear or feel tight.

  10. the best way is an x ray. but if its swollen and purple chances are that its broken

  11. If your toe is very swollen , a slight purple colour, and if you try to bend or touch it and you feel a good amount of pain its likely that your toe is broken.

  12. You can't tell without an x-ray... but they don't cast toes anyway.

    Go tomorrow.

  13. I have had two friends break toes and in their cases the break was thorough enough to make the toe kind of hang there.  Another way to determine a break is to feel the toe and see if you feel any irregularities, like lumps or crooked places, because this could indicate a break.  Wiggle your toe, if this causes extreme pain, that is also an indication.  Next listen to your toe as you wiggle it.  If you hear sounds that seem to suggest bone on bone, like popping or grinding, this is another sign of a broken toe.  Compare the toe to the same toe on the other foot if it is shorter, this is another clue.

In both my friends cases, the dr taped the injured toe to the next one and told them to elevate it and use ice packs.  That said, you may have a more complex issue going on, so make sure you get a dr to look at it if it continues to be a problem.

Hope this helps and Good luck.

  14. I second the above answer.... you can't tell, but it doesn't matter because there is nothing to be done about it. The best you can do is ice it

  15. if it hurts if you lean on it or in a different position or the bones are not a lined

  16. I thought that a while ago, and went to A+E, it turned out i had broken it but there's nothing they can do they just strapped it to the next toe and said it would heal by itself and to rest and take painkillers.
