How do you tell low or high pressure on isobars?

Are low pressure close together or farther apart?

  1. Those lines you see are lines of equal pressure (isobars).

    1015mb is higher than 993mb, so if that is your highest and lowest pressure,  high pressure would be 1015mb.

  3. Well if they are labeled, then higher numbers are high pressure and lower numbers are low pressure.  Otherwise, isobars are closer together in areas of low pressure, and farther apart in areas of high pressure.
