  1. A character in a person can b dominant or recessive depending upon whether the person carries the dominant gene or not........

I mean to say if the person carries a single allele of A it doesnt matter that what the second allele would be.... The person would definitely show the dominant character(whether the second allele is dominant A or recessive a)

On the other hand if a person shows recessive character it means that both the alleles would be recessive that is aa

In simple words the genes for dominant character would be AA and Aa

and the genes for recessive character would be aa

  2. Dominant genes only need one allele to be prevalent in a species.

Recessive genes skip generations, because they can only be prevalent in species that are the result of a homozygous couple.

  3. If a person is showing the dominant phenotype for a gene, then their genotype would be either AA or Aa.  To show the dominant phenotype, you need only one copy of the dominant allele (A).

If a person shows the recessive phenotype, then they can't have any copies of the dominant allele and therefore have to be homozygous recessive, aa.

  4. if they were dominant to a gene they will be AA or Aa

    Recessive will always be aa

So small as are recessive , so in order to be recessive to a gene they will need to have  aa. If they have Aa they are dominant to a gene because the Big A always dominant over the small a.

For example someone may have  Aa for a particular disease, they do not have the disease as the dominant A takes over the small a , BUT they are called "carriers" because if they marry a partner with Aa , there is a 25 percent chance the child produce is going to have the disease,i hope you understand what i mean.

Here this it very helpful , its called the punnett square:

  5. if the person is dominate, it will always have a capital letter, AA or Aa

but if the person is recessive, they must have two lowercase letters, aa

a person is not recessive if they have both upper and lowercase,, Aa

dominant means that they have the gene, recessive means that they lack it.

    hope i helped
