How do you tell the difference between milli and mega??

Lower case 'm' is milli.

Upper case 'M' is Mega.

Milli denoted by common "m"

(multiplying the unit to which it is attached by 10^ -2

Mega is denoted by capital "M"

(multiplying the unit to which it is attached by 10^+6

In your example, it would mean millibytes, but since there is not such thing, it must be mispelled as Mb or mega bytes.
