  1. Lower case 'm' is milli.

    Upper case 'M' is Mega.

  2. According the metric system:

    Milli denoted by common "m"

(multiplying the unit to which it is attached by 10^ -2

Mega is denoted by capital "M"

(multiplying the unit to which it is attached by 10^+6

Check out all other prefixes such as gig, tera, etc.

mb in computer terms is megabytes

  3. In your example, it would mean millibytes, but since there is not such thing, it must be mispelled as Mb or mega bytes.

the first and most important thing any engineer or technician (or anyone living in the modern world) is learn the prefixes for the metric system. The basic ones are very simple.

    c (cent) = x100

    k (kilo) = x1000

    M (Meg) = x1000000

    G (Gig) = x1000000000

    m (milli) = /1000

    µ (micro) = /1000000

    n (nano) = /1000000000

    p (pico) = /1000000000000
